Speed - there's no feeling like it
You're in second gear and approaching red-line. Quick shift to third and start building RPM's again. Somewhere around here the big hand of the law firmly says "that's fast enough". Except you're not on a public road now. You're on a twisty, 2 mile long race track with your street car and the RPM's are still building. And now you're shifting to fourth...

Competition - this isn't just another track day
The only thing better than speed, is competition. Knowing at the end of the day, you did more than just drive around a race course: you learned, you gained, you had fun, and you competed. Our competition rules keep you racing against cars of similar potential so race results come down to who is the better driver.

Minimal Commitment -
Our High Speed Autocross program is specifically for drivers who want to compete in their street car without a huge investment in additional equipment and without the threat of rubbing fenders with other drivers. Regardless of what car you have, we have a class you can compete in. We can even give you your lap times without requiring you to purchase additional equipment.

Get Started Now - no experience required
Putting your car on a race track can be one of the most exciting experiences you ever have. Our all volunteer organization has been dedicated to providing a safe and competitive environment for almost 50 years. Most new drivers only need their car and an approved helmet to compete with their street car on track. And if you would like help or some instruction, our certified autocross instructors are always available to make sure you learn the basics. Our experience and program format make us one of the safest choices when it comes to putting your car on a race track.

So you want to Autocross?
That’s great, because we want to
see you on track also!

Midwestern Council has been doing this for many years so we know how to put you on track quickly and safely. (and you don't even have to be a member, but we'd like you to be)

The first thing you need to know is that this isn't group racing, or wheel to wheel racing. There is no rubbing fenders here. We Autocross on real race tracks so we limit the number of cars we put on track at any given time and we spread you out to minimize traffic. We also restrict passing to very specific (and straight) sections )of the track because we know this is most likely your street car. Safety is always our first concern.

Something YOU need to make sure of is that you and your car are prepared. Prior to your car going out on track, we will give your vehicle a quick once over to make sure there aren't any obvious safety issues. You will want to make sure that your vehicle's brakes and steering system are at their best. These are two systems that you do NOT want failing.

Next, you are going to want to make sure YOU are ready. Get plenty of sleep before the event. Make sure you are familiar with our safety requirements. Know what class and category your car belongs in before you get to the track. You are going to want to make sure you have the required clothing and safety gear for your day on the track. Things like an approved helmet, long sleeve shirt, full coverage pants and shoes. If you happen to have an extremely fast car or a convertible, please make sure you read the rules carefully because we require more safety equipment with these types of vehicles.

Somewhere along the line, you are going to want to register for an event. All of our competition events are listed online at www.MyAutoEvents.com. Please pre-register online. We don't require that you pay when you pre-register. It is just really nice to have your paperwork all ready to sign the morning of the event. It makes the registration line in the morning more a lot faster.

Once you've made it to the track, your car will go thru a quick safety inspection process. That morning you will also need to attend the mandatory drivers meeting which usually happens at 8AM so plan on getting to the track early. After the meeting we have multi-lap practice sessions by group all morning. Sessions are limited to small groups of cars and passing is limited to specific areas of the track so you need not worry about rubbing fenders with other cars. After lunch, the timed runs around the track start. We keep cars on course until around 6pm.

If you are new to our events, we have instructors on hand to teach you the basics and help you around the course the first couple times. If you have any questions, there is always someone around who can help out.

Immediately after the on track event, we have a trophy presentation for the top 30 percent in class. We normally have Wheel to Wheel races the following day so plan to stick around for the weekend. We can always use the help!
