Thanks to Salt Creek Sports Car Club, Workers and Volunteers, Stewards and Officers; to all who made yesterdays Autocross a resounding success!
The weather held off, we got lots of track time and runs in spite of the shutdowns for the crashes, the awards ceremony was raucous fun and SCSCC threw a great party. Great fun yesterday! As far as I could see, thankfully, no crash injuries. I was right there watching the turn 4 incident and the Steward at the exit road , I think it was Chris Falconer, was running toward the car while on the radio declaring the MayDay and requesting the required assistance, maybe even before the car had come to rest. He was at (or below, in this case) the driver's door within seconds. Very impressive. Great work, great event. John Q Last edited by qjohn; 07-16-2012 at 09:26 AM. Reason: Corrected word choice. |

I agree with you Chip, great event, 9 Runs!!!, emergency crews cleaned up crashes in record time, and thankfully no one got hurt. I would like to give a shout out to the people in timing and scoring who did a fantastic job after having it thrown in their laps and the starter who I thought spaced us out perfectly so we didn't really get bunched up on track, job well done!!!
Also, kudos to Brad Oblak who I believe was instrumental in getting the rule changed about having students ride in instructors cars and John Churchill who came up with the helmet stickers so grid can identify instructors in the cars on grid and for conducting the HSAX meeting that was scheduled after it was thrown in HIS lap and for being a classy enough guy to tell everybody to not even mention what happened at the last event and that it was a dead horse and to move on with new ideas and such. All in all had a great time. Who knew?

Feedback from a first timer. I'm 'Heavy85' and Nick is 'Mr. Pockets'. Nick is a local autox FTDI / National trophy kind of guy so by the end the second practice he basically had the line down then comtinued to push harder throughout the day.

The event was awesome! Honestly the best event this year. The rescue squad and corner workers did an amazing job of responding to the crashes, which made me feel great as a driver. I honestly think it made me faster knowing how competent our safety crew is. 9 runs, wow! I opted out of ny 9th run because I was soooo hot and exhausted. Shouldn't have done that since it cost me 1st in class. Lost it by 3/10ths of a second, now that's racing!
Even with 1 and 7 being terrible I set my personal fastest time, and talked to a couple others who said the same, which is kinda weird. Interested to see how much if at all my times improve once those corners are fixed. Again, big thanks to the event staff and volunteers who made this such a great event!

Aw Tony! I was wondering how you lost 1st place. That's a hard lesson.
Thanks to everyone who put in the effort to make it such a great day! The quick rotation back on track towards the end was the best! Thank you workers! <3

Yeah Michele, I regret not taking that last run...live and learn. Either Way, our class is really shaping up to be some tight competition, which I think is awesome, win or lose.

I couldn't agree more with everything said here! One of the best run, best staffed events I've been to anywhere, not just within MC. Very good safety crews, great starter/timing/scoring, great corner workers getting yellow flags out during some pretty hairy wrecks. Just a great event all the way around for the staff. Followed by a good Ax pow wow with John and Bill. Since all this was done with little notice I think it speaks volumes for the caliber of people we have at MC. Not to mention some great competition on track and hanging out with some great people.

Awesome Job Guys! Everyone seemed to be having a pretty darn good time. I was over there Saturday morning and Sunday for the Races. I posted some pics of AX from Saturday. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1850892&type=1
